This is a full-time exempt position, approximately 40 hours per week. Candidates must be available to work budgeted hours during open hours of the library: Monday through Thursday 8:30am to 9:00pm, Friday 8:30am to 8:00pm, Saturday 8:30am to 7:00 pm and Sunday 10:00am to 6:00pm. Some hours outside the open hours of the library will be required. As a condition of employment, work schedules may change as necessary to best provide user services and to meet the Library’s responsibility to the citizens of Greene County.

This position requires an MLS or MLIS from an ALA accredited institution. To be considered for this position Transcripts must accompany your application.

The Branch Manager is responsible for the overall management of the library branch, including overseeing daily operations, coordinating staff, and ensuring high-quality patron services. This role involves developing and implementing branch-specific programs and services, managing the branch budget, and collaborating with community stakeholders to meet local information and educational needs. The Branch Manager also plays a key role in staff training and development, facilities management, and promoting a welcoming and inclusive environment for library users of all ages. Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills are essential for success in this position.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Assumes responsibility for daily operations of the library branch
Coordinates all branch library services and programming in compliance with system policies and procedures
Manages, schedules, and trains branch staff to ensure productivity and high levels of patron service and enforces compliance with Library policy as stated in the Personnel Policy Manual
Prepares and submits the branch budget, and assumes accountability for expenditures for programming, equipment, building maintenance, collection expansion, technology, utilities, professional services, and personnel
Maintains positive relations with the community in the branch service area, and serves as a liaison between the library and various community organizations
Interprets and implements the Library’s General Conduct Policy
Consistently punctual for work and meetings. Completes assigned duties in a timely manner.
Exemplifies professional attitude and demeanor while engaging constituents, including the ability to work and interact with others in a cooperative, pleasant, and constructive manner.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated ability to organize work effectively, lead and direct personnel and plan and carry out programs
Superior oral and written communication skills
Ability to effectively respond to problems and complaints with library patrons and/or staff
Considerable knowledge of library management, with particular emphasis on patron services and staff development
Thorough understanding of trends in libraries and related technologies
Working knowledge of general management practices
Effective public speaking skills
Education/Experience
MLS, or MLIS degree from an ALA accredited institution
Professional, supervisory, public library experience desired
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in customer service excellence
Proficient with current technology, including recent innovations, library functions and current issues facing libraries, and a grasp of the evolving role of libraries

Physical Demands
